Parity
for Disability Farnborough to France Bike
Challenge Thursday 24 – Saturday
26 September (return Sunday 27 September)
Following the success of our 2007 Farnborough
to France bike challenge, local charity
Parity for Disability is running the event
again in 2009.
We are looking for 15 cyclists with stamina
to take part in our unique and exhilirating
sponsored bike ride from Farnborough to
its twin town of Meudon in France. Participants
will leave Parity's Farnborough day service
on Thursday 24th September 2009, and after
an overnight ferry crossing from Portsmouth
the Le Havre, will travel through scenic
Northern France before arriving to a hero’s
welcome on Saturday 26th September at Meudon.
Although it is not a competitive race, participants
need to be in good physical condition and
will be expected to travel at an average
speed of 15mph. They are asked to pay a
£50 fee and raise at least £450
in sponsorship.
Parity for Disability provides vital services
and support for young people with multiple
disabilities in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.
We hope this bike ride will raise at least
£6,000. Those taking part will be
helping provide vital services and support
for some of the most vulnerable people in
the area.
For more information, please contact Helene
at the Parity office, 01252 375581 or helene@parityfordisability.org.uk.
To download the application pack, please
visit the events page at www.parityfordisability.org.uk.
Parity was advised in putting together
the event by Donald Ashton of the Farnborough
and Camberley Cycling Club.
